Being Part of Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition
After being selected for the second year running, we were delighted to exhibit our artwork Shoreditch High Street Station as part of the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition again. The world’s largest open submission art show, the Summer Exhibition brings together art in all mediums – prints and paintings, film, photography, sculpture, architectural works and more – by leading artists, Royal Academicians, and household names as well as new and emerging talent.
Drawing on the similarities between the net of a box and the structure of an urban environment – whilst honouring the landscape of Shoreditch – Shoreditch High Street is a flat packed cardboard artwork, illustrated to show architectural detail. You can find the piece in the Large Western Room (artwork no.666), which celebrates sustainability in its broadest sense, with all work selected by Spencer de Grey RA. For him, artists must take a ‘holistic view’, considering the energy used during the whole construction process – known as ’embodied’ energy.
The exhibition is on until 12th August at the Royal Academy of Arts
