Savills

2013

Our over ridding vision for Savilles’ new HQ space was the concept of urban perspectives and the many different ways we consume and interact with the built environment. As such we sought to create a series of abstractions and distortions each telling a story of the urban world around us and creating alternate realities of a world we know so well.

This bespoke piece for the reception area of Savills’ new HQ in central London takes full advantage of the sun. Reflections are created through smoked mirrored planes angled to create a constantly evolving piece of work which reflects the space around it and changes with the time of day, lighting conditions and viewer interactions. ’Urban Perspectives’ references the built environment using the square Savills logo shape within a grid formation, depicting both an aerial view of the city as well as the sea of windows that are ubiquitous in our urban landscape.

A collection of commissions for each of Savills’ new meeting rooms, each representing a city in which Savills has a presence. Starting from a photo of each location we abstracted the image, reducing it to a series of colours and tones to encapsulate the feel of that city. The shape of canvas was then developed to denote the given city. The finished result is a series of abstract works which can be linked back to the source through shape and colour.
