What we do

Customism: Exploring identity through art and environment

We are a multidisciplinary creative practice, fusing Art and Design to explore identity. Through this blend of Art, Interior Design and Brand Exploration we weave the results into the fabric of a space. We believe art shouldn’t be confined to the gallery space and should be available for everyone to engage with. We make custom Art that tells your story. We call this process Customism.

Under the creative direction of James Burke and the strategic management of Paul Arad, we handle everything in the delivery process of each project.  Working with our in-house team at our Shoreditch studio and our curated network of collaborators, our mission is to connect art to space and fuse brand with environment.

Our diverse portfolio of work showcases one-off Art installations, interior graphics, entire Art programs and architectural features, all underpinned by a unique sense of character and individuality that has come to define Acrylicize projects. Centred on the business partnership of James and Paul, the studio combines business nous, creative flair and a no-fears approach to present high concept art and interior features for residential and commercial spaces. With a can-do attitude and an overt passion for evolving techniques and technologies, we take a hands-on and personal approach to projects, big or small, overseeing all aspects of project management and installation.

‘Customism’ is a discipline we have championed from day one. This is what makes us so unique and underpins all the work we do. It’s about telling your story through Art. It’s about making work that is personal to you. It’s about exploring and celebrating your identity and bringing it to life through Art. As a collective we bring together many different creative disciplines from Fine Art, Architecture, Graphics, Fashion and many more and it’s with these skills that your work is created. With such an eclectic mix of styles it’s no wonder all our projects look so different, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s this diversity that keeps us fresh and ready for the next challenge and this mentality has come to define our style as a studio. Too many projects to mention but have a look at some of our choice picks from Stratford Place and Trinity Square

What to put on your walls? This is often a difficult question to answer and one which sometimes can only be answered by seeing the right thing and making that all important connection with it. The idea of consultancy is at the core of everything we do. It’s our mission to create truly engaging and memorable experiences for you, your clients, their clients and anyone else who is lucky enough to pass through your space. Whether it is an acrylicize original or work by another artist or collective, our goal is to get you to that point and we won’t be happy until you are there. Needless to say, when working with other artists, it’s still very much an acrylicize production which mean as well as overseeing the creative aspects, all the other elements such as liaison, logistics, project management and anything else that makes projects run smoothly are handled personally by us. Check out some examples of our consultancy projects including Wembley Stadium and The Emirates Stadium

Blending Art and brand is one of our favourite things to do and a really fascinating area of creativity to work in. These projects tend to be collaborative by their very nature which means we get to work with great people from all over the world and form close relationships through the work we make. For us it’s about learning, truly understanding the brand inside out and using this knowledge to help write a new chapter, whether it be celebrating heritage or looking towards the future. It’s important for us to create original work and stress that this isn’t just a roll-out of a set of brand guidelines. You don’t need us for that! Our aim is to create challenging and original works that blur the boundaries between Art and brand and express identity in new and unique ways. We’re proud to have had the honour of working with some pretty special brands and to have been able to leave our mark. See below for some examples of work we have done for Heinz and Mind Candy

Creativity thrives on collaboration and community, and as a studio we are genuinely inspired by the sheer diversity of talent around us. We believe that working together can produce truly amazing results and this belief is at the core of our culture. We have been lucky enough to collaborate with some of the most celebrated artists, designers, interior designers and architects from around the world on projects both large and small. From sign-writers and sculptors to photographers and graffiti artists, we are always open to working together, combining skill sets and exploring different ways of thinking. The success of these collaborations can been seen right the way across our portfolio and we have had the privilege of working with some of the best in the business. Through this process we’ve made lots of new friends and made lots of clients very happy, all while continuing to grow creatively. Happy days…
