Kaleidoscope

2016

Tableau Software exists to help people see and understand their data. The mission to reinterpret data in a beautiful way was the primary inspiration for the art and interior design scheme, titled ‘Fold, Unfold’. Colours, light and materials fold and unfold throughout the building as you move throughout the space. The series of visual elements are all designed to be seen from different points of view, with contrasting micro and macro levels of detail. You can find an unfolded hexagonal polygon pattern in different areas of the space, a recurring graphic device that translates the core concept both visually and spatially.

The light installations seen here, titled ‘Kaleidoscope’, mirror the Tableau vision: they are each a striking visual representation of a combination and layering of simple data sets. The aim of these pieces is to illustrate the beauty created from continuous data ordering and reordering.
