Technological Mandala 94

2016

“The Technological Mandala 94 – Mesh” is part of my series called Technological Mandalas. The technological mandalas are created by soldering together electronic components of various shapes and colour in order to create a design that recalls figures of traditional mandala. Through an exercise in geometry, the mesh represents a world made with infinite connections between people, objects, feelings, states, planets and mind.

The spiritual worlds of mandalas combined with technology underlines a fractal repetition of the microcosm into the macrocosm. The electronic components lose their real functionality, and instead become ephemeral objects that are able to trigger the eyes and minds of the viewers, and lead them into an abstract world, much like the way we experience the spirituality of the great cathedrals. Electronic technology has become an important part in our daily life, almost something to worship.

The technological mandalas go beyond a scheme of geometric rationality and instead explore new imaginative pictures that represent the revolution of contemporary technology. This work was commissioned by Acrylicize on behalf of Tableau.
