Founders Wall

2017

Founders Wall is an ode to the creators of the food industry giants Kraft and Heinz: two men whose legacy has lived on in our homes since the 1800s. Made from shopping trolleys and baskets, their steel portraits hang across two floors of the company’s head office reception space. The combined portraits represent the coming together of the two global food entities.

Sitting slightly away from the wall, the artworks casts changing shadows throughout the day. In contrast to the functional and industrial quality of the material, the organic nature of the weaved line work brings an element of playfulness to the piece, which is emphasised via the smaller details; the shopping trolley wheels form the shirt buttons, and the pound lock isused to create the pocket watch chain.

Kraft and Heinz were both large personalities, with equally large legacies. Their portraits are created on a scale that represents their continued impact and relevance in the food industry today.
