INTRODUCTION

Made up of a cluster of pyramidal forms, Winter Garden plays with light and perforated materials to evoke a sense of being amongst nature.

Commissioned by the Christie NHS Foundation Trust for their Proton Beam Therapy Centre in Manchester, the piece is inspired by the tranquillity of a forest. Motion lights are programmed to conjure illusions of flickering sunlight through trees, creating areas of warmth and shade and mimicking the experience of sitting beneath the canopy. Creating a serene and peaceful environment where viewers can reflect and breathe, the installation offers a moment of escapism and provides the space with a unique identity that continues to flow through the building.
